Lyon are preparing to make a January bid for Zenit Saint Petersburg star Sardar Azmoun, who has also been linked with a transfer to Arsenal under Mikel Arteta.
Last summer, the 26-year-old forward was extensively linked with a move away from Zenit and had multiple offers on the table.
Last summer, Les Gones and Tottenham were among the clubs interested in signing him, but Sardar subsequently disclosed that the Russian club blocked his transfer.
However, his contract is scheduled to expire at the conclusion of the season, and Sergei Semak’s side may have one more chance to recoup a transfer fee from his sale in January.
The Ligue 1 side is optimistic that Sine-Belo-Golubye will be ready to transfer him in January, despite the Iran star showing no indications of signing a new contract.
The Gunners are also rumored to be following him in the hope of snatching him up for free next summer.
It’ll be interesting to see whether the Emirates or Spurs consider making their own January bids for him.
