Arsenal set to renew interest in signing of former PSG midfielder

According to the latest rumours, Arsenal is ready to rekindle its interest in RB Leipzig playmaker Christopher Nkunku.

For several seasons, he has been on the Gunners’ radar. When they first saw the Frenchman, their head coach, Unai Emery, was still in charge.

The Spaniard had previously worked with Nkunku at Paris Saint-Germain and was eager to do so again in north London.

Christopher eventually relocated to Germany after leaving the French city. He has been a member of Die Roten Bullen since 2019 and has made an impact in the Bundesliga.

Arsenal have remained interested in him despite Emery’s departure two years ago due to his form. During the summer, though, everything quieted down.

Instead, the contest for his signature has broadened in recent months. Thomas Tuchel, another former PSG coach, has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

There have also been rumors that Manchester City, led by Pep Guardiola, are interested in signing Nkunku, who recently scored a hat-trick against them in the UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners, though, remain hopeful in their pursuit of the versatile midfielder, whose contract extends until June 2024, according to Calciomercato.

In terms of bargaining, the Germans are in a good position. They’ll be able to get a good price for Nkunku because of his goalscoring talents from the middle of the pitch.
