‘Everybody Wants Him to Stay’ – Thomas Tuchel Speaks on Chelsea Superstar future.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has spoken on the future of center-back Antonio Rudiger, who has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
The German opened the scoring in the Blues’ 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Saturday, with N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic both scoring.
However, recent rumours imply that when his contract expires at the end of the season, he may leave west London.
Tuchel remarked about the defender’s predicament at Chelsea in an interview with the official Chelsea website, saying: “Everybody wants him to stay, this is very evident.”
“There are times when things take a little longer, but he knows what he has, playing for a wonderful club in a fantastic league, so we’ll wait and see what happens.”
Despite recent conversations between Rudiger and the club, it is thought that neither party has been able to reach an agreement on a new contract.
The story has piqued the interest of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, both of whom could make a play for him if he leaves the club.
After 14 minutes, Rudiger headed the ball over Kasper Schmeichel from a Ben Chilwell corner to give the Blues the lead over the Foxes.
Kante increased the advantage with a thunderous strike around the half-hour mark before Pulisic made it 3-0 with 19 minutes remaining.
After 12 games, Chelsea is still on top of the Premier League table.
