Mikel Arteta reveals why he spent £30million to sign Aaron Ramsdale.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta drew criticism after paying £30 million on Ramsdale in the summer, but the 23-year-old has been a standout performer for the Gunners this season.

Aaron Ramsdale was recruited to Arsenal by Mikel Arteta because of his ability to stay calm under pressure.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper starred in Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Leicester City last weekend, producing a series of spectacular saves.

Ramsdale’s flawless performance at the King Power Stadium helped to justify the £30 million he was paid by relegated Sheffield United in the summer.

“One of the things that struck me the most every time I saw a game he played in was his attitude,” Arteta remarked.

“I wanted to see a lot of films and occasions when he conceded a goal, made a mistake, or was in a tough situation.”

“And that’s one of the primary reasons we decided to sign him to play for us.”

Ramsdale has already won over the Arsenal fans by joining in on shouts and engaging in friendly conversation with supporters against Leicester last weekend.

“I believe yes,” Arteta said when asked whether Ramsdale’s personality had a role in his signing. That was accomplished by this guy. But we’re working right now, and it’s all about business.

“There are no laughs and no space for complacency at that moment.” It’s all about the win.”

Due to the 23-year-excellent old’s form, previous first-choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno has become a more peripheral character at the Emirates.

Arteta, on the other hand, is convinced that Ramsdale has stayed professional while sitting on the bench, and is eager to see him maintain his outstanding form.

“Obviously, he’s unhappy, and he should be disappointed,” he continued. He likes to play and is used to playing.

“However, he has to boost his level at the same time. And he’ll boost Aaron’s level, ensuring that everyone is doing admirably.

“A huge part of it is because Bernd is there next to him, trying to assist him, encourage him in training, and help him improve as a goalkeeper.”

“That’s precisely what we’re looking for.”
