Thomas Tuchel hails Chelsea star who feels comfortable on the ball

Following his great performance against Malmo in the Champions League last night, Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has urged Ruben Loftus-Cheek to go on and reach his full potential.

Tuchel thinks the midfielder merely has to establish consistency to become a great player: “The 25-year-old has been in and out of the first squad this season, but he has performed when offered the opportunity by Tuchel, and he has performed when allowed the chance by Tuchel.”

“I believe he is too good to simply be a member of the group, and he wants to dominate opponents, not just be a part of the game.” He must use his full potential; this is critical for him, and if he does, he may be a valuable member of the team, which is why I am overjoyed.”

“He was in a lot of risky situations for us, and I’m glad he pulls himself through these little setbacks, like the first 15 minutes, and then puts in a tremendous performance.” The next stage is for him to come up regularly and to push himself since he has so much potential that his limit can be continually stretched.”

Tuchel is absolutely correct in throwing down the gauntlet to Loftus-Cheek. He has the potential to be an absolute monster due to his size and technical abilities, particularly if he puts his game on opponents. The goal is to keep going for a whole 90 minutes.

Of course, becoming a regular starter in Chelsea’s midfield will be difficult, particularly with the likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, and Mateo Kovacic in the team, but with Loftus-Cheek being in his peak years, it’s now or never for him to break through at the London club.
