Thomas Tuchel Reveals Key to Keeping Chelsea Squad Happy Following Juventus Triumph
After winning 4-0 against Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday night, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel revealed how he keeps his players happy.
Tuchel’s squad won Group H thanks to goals from Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Timo Werner.
Tuchel spoke to BT Sport following Chelsea’s victory on what he tries to keep his players happy even when they aren’t playing.
He stated, “The greatest way to keep them satisfied is to keep going and winning.”
“Everyone has to fight for their place. The players that don’t play, I feel they are disappointed. I feel they will never let the team down, they will never show it for too long. It does not affect their work ethic.
“We are in a good place because everybody pushes each other and steps up. Sometimes there are tough decisions in football, I can only start 11 players. It is better in Champions League because I can make five substitutes.”
Tuchel apologized to Marcos Alonso, who was passed over as a replacement for Cesar Azpilicueta.
Saul Niguez made his first appearance since Chelsea eliminated Southampton from the Carabao Cup, taking advantage of the regulation allowing for more substitutions.
Tuchel will need his entire squad to be fit and ready for the holiday season, especially with injuries to N’Golo Kante, Ben Chilwell, Mateo Kovacic, and Kai Havertz.
